016: Helping Job Seekers and Hiring Managers Improve Their Skills with Carolyn Illman (Type 6)
Carolyn Illman is the Owner of Hire Possibilities. She guides hiring managers, job seekers, and small business owners in refining interview techniques, hiring strategies, and optimizing business processes. Carolyn has 15+ years of Program Management experience between her roles at Amazon and Smashing Ideas.
After realizing she preferred her role as a "bar raiser" (someone who interviews for other teams and is a steward of the interview process) she decided to start her own business and help job seekers and hiring managers improve their hiring skills. We dive into that transition, her work and what how life as an Enneagram Six.
Carolyn shares about how she used to let her anxiety/doubt hold her back. By not speaking up or using the right interview methodology, she made two bad hires that resulted in loss of money for our company but also added even more friction to our account and processes. She shares what she learned and what she would do differently.
